Game 4–Adventures in Comic Book Land

To some degree, maybe even to a great degree, how angry we get in a situation is going to depend on our self talk, what we are saying to ourselves about a situation. And with each comic strip problem situation, there are four possible responses. One response is to do nothing and hold everything inside. This is called the passive response. And another response is to yell or do damage to the other person in some way such. as denting their car. That is called the aggressive response. A third response is called the passive aggressive response. The situation is not dealt with a directly, but the angry person. finds a way to get back at the person that has offended them indirectly. without it being clear that they have done something. The final response is called the assertive response, which has to do with speaking up in a socially responsible way and drawing boundaries. to try to prevent the anger producing event from occurring again.
